Day 4 in France

Not the greatest of starts. Jean had eaten something disagreeable and had had virtually no sleep. Still, we managed to have a bit of breakfast, where we met Steve, Pat, James and Jane. Steve is actually a TeamMK member, so we had a good old moan about the state of the club rides, etc. He had booked to do La Marmotte, but had just had a replacement hip, so was under medical orders not to take part, much to his chagrin. However, Pat is a non-cyclist, so a cycling widow like Jean! Might be some walking potential next week when Marmotte is over.

We did get into Bourg d’Oisans and actually had a very pleasant walk round the back, up to a spectacular waterfall going by the singularly unfortunate name of Cascade de la Pisse! However, Jean was beginning to feel worse, so back we came. Spent a while fettling the bike, setting things up for tomorrow.

Spaghetti Bolognese for dinner (what a surprise) and an early night. Feeling really quite nervous – just hope I can get a good night’s sleep. Early breakfast tomorrow (porridge – what a surprise!)
