After yesterday’s slogathon, today’s post will be much shorter, you’ll be glad to know.

Usual late start, usual glorious sunny day, usual excellent breakfast over which we lingered as usual.

Prepared for a day on the beach, my only stipulation being that I stay within reach of a decent Internet connection, as I planned to write up a looooong couple of blog posts about yesterday’s experiences.

Basically, that’s what I did, lounging in wonderful sunshine – up until afternoon tea, anyway. I still hadn’t finished the posts by then.

George, bless him, was back from his day off and ensured that we each got our now customary glass of Prosecco with afternoon tea. In fact, I got two glasses….. No idea whether I’m paying for these unsolicited, though welcome, additions. I’ll find out tomorrow when I have to pay the bill. Two more G&Ts duly arrived at 6 pm….

We’d had an invitation to a cocktail party hosted by Leo Garbutt, who owns the hotel and much else besides. We spoke briefly to him – he came here in 1985 to buy a rum distillery and ended up with this hotel. He’d just been awarded an MBE, but for what I never found out.

We spent the next half-hour chatting to various people, then departed to a Caribbean Grill experience at the Beach Club. Excellent food once again, with a loudish but reasonably talented steel band for entertainment, set off with a nice bottle of Malbec.

And that, dear reader, was pretty much that for the day. Final sleep in this great suite before we depart tomorrow.

Our taxi doesn’t pick us up until 3.45 p.m. tomorrow, so we should have a bit of time to catch a few rays amongst the packing. We’ll see.
