Intro – 11/9/23

And we’re off! Again!

The Italian Lakes this time, courtesy of Riviera Travel. Just for a week.

I haven’t been to that area since I was 13 years old, but I do recall it being beautiful then. Looking forward to seeing it with older and (hopefully) wiser eyes.

The flight to Milan leaves tomorrow morning at 9 a.m., so the plan is to drive down to Gatwick and stay overnight. I’ve pre-booked a parking package with the Bloc Hotel, so fingers crossed it all works out.

Set off at around 5.30 p.m. and had a remarkably smooth journey down. A bit of difficulty finding the valet car park, but got there in the end.

The hotel was at the South Terminal, so we took the monorail. Signage to the hotel was sparse, but, as we have been there before, we managed to find Reception and check in.

Unfortunately, when we got to our room, we discovered that the bed was jammed against a wall, so a visit to the loo during the night for one of us would have meant clambering over the other. We arranged to upgrade to a proper room, but at a cost of £55. Grrrr!

Some nachos and a beer were sampled at the Giraffe restaurant before we retired for the night.

Our flight is early tomorrow, so we need to get our heads down.

Night, all.
