Another uneventful drive of over 400 km in which I think we turned right once, and that was towards Kalbarri, our destination for the next two nights. Jean drove until a coffee stop at Overlander, which, as its name suggests, is a stop for the long distance drivers of all sorts in this remote region.
Temperature steadily dropped to a positively freezing 27 degrees as we went south, but the sky remained relentlessly blue and cloudless – yet again.
Checked into the Kalbarri Palm Resort and found ourselves in a decent enough room with kitchenette facilities. Crap WiFi again, though.
Took a stroll downtown and got some info about the region from the Visitor Centre, as is our wont, having booked a table at a local restaurant on the way. For the first time in a while, we don’t have to get up for breakfast as this place doesn’t have a restaurant, so we got some basic supplies at the local supermarket for a late and lazy self-catered breakfast in our room. Oh, and some wine (not for breakfast, I hasten to add…..)
Went back to the pre-booked restaurant and, once again, the quality and quantity of the food was excellent. Once again, I couldn’t finish my meal. Oh, well.
No idea what we’re going to do tomorrow, but we’ll think of something and let you know!
